We are both grateful and humbled by all the competitors, collectively there was a massive investment of time and resources to compete. This year’s competition enjoyed over 100 start-up nominations and a final shortlist of 20! The batphone was red hot all summer long and kept iHR Project Leader Dorin Satran on her toes collating all the video and abstract submissions!

FINALIST #1 = GooodJob
GooodJob’s innovative Employee Referral Platform helps corporate recruiters boost their employee referral programs and attract top talent by effectively engaging employees and successfully harnessing social media tools. GooodJob believes that referral programs are such a powerful sourcing tool that companies should not settle for today’s inefficient models that generate participation rates of only 10%-20%. Its platform spurs long-term employee involvement, providing employees with advanced tools to easily share job openings with their Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter networks, and a mobile app to use on-the-go. Assaf Eisenstein is Founder and CEO of GooodJob. Previously the CEO of two publicly-traded companies, Assaf holds a law degree from the University of Leicester in England, and an MBA from the College of Management in Israel. During his (rare) free time, he enjoys relaxing with his wife and two children, and mountain biking.
FINALIST #2 = HUNITE
Hunite is a Dutch company providing innovative solutions that streamline HR processes and Service Centers. Hunite are a highly successful and growing company and have become a prominent player within our discipline within a short period of time. Our client portfolio includes all sectors such as nonprofit, financial services, business services, healthcare and industries.
Michel Slager is Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Hunite. Michel has been IT entrepreneur for 20 years. He excels working in teams driven by enthusiasm, creativity and practical use of technology. As founder and CEO of Hunite he strives to achieve Service Delivery Excellence, leverage data to empower employees and managers and revolutionize the mobile workplace from the cloud.
FINALIST #3 = Intunex
Intunex Ltd is a Finnish company that has developed a unique social business application called xTune designed for connecting and sharing expertise within an organization. TEKES (the Finnish Funding Agency for Technology and Innovation) granted Intunex an innovation and product development fund in 2010. The first version of xTune was launched in 2011 and it already has several large organizations as its clients. xTune won the most prestigious interactive learning award in Finland, eEemeli 2012 – the best collaboration application.
Janne Ruohisto, M.Ed., is the founder and the CEO of Intunex. His background is in human resources with broad experience in utilizing information technology. Janne has participated in developing several web-based applications and collaborative environments to support learning and professional development since 1999. He started his own company with a mission to help people work together and collaborate beyond organizational boundaries by utilizing new technology.
FINALIST #4 = Sciomino
Sciomino is a Dutch startup providing companies with a tool to disclose their social capital. It helps employees to find other employees by knowledge areas, experiences, office-locations etc. The aggregated information gives companies insights in the knowledge-potential of the company and helps to reduce costs.
Edwin van de Bospoort is Founder & CEO of Sciomino. Edwin is a user experience designer and has been working on the web since ’99, mostly aiming to make it a more user-friendly space. Alongside his freelance assignments, he and partner Herman van Dompseler developed Sciomino. A tool that helps individuals to start mining the knowledge and experiences of their peers, and gives companies a tool to monetize their corporate social network. Edwin lives together with Barbara and their 3 children, no dogs, and a lot of trees.
FINALIST #5 = Small Improvements
Small Improvements helps you conduct performance reviews, collect anonymous peer feedback, track goals, and provide continuous feedback. It’s streamlined for the end user, so staff training is not required. At the same time, Small Improvements ships with powerful real-time reporting tools for HR staff. It’s easy to analyze trends, help people who are running late, and compare ratings across managers and departments to make sure all are on the same page.
Per Fragemann is the CEO of Small Improvements. Prior to founding Small Improvements, Per led a team of 25 developers at Atlassian in Sydney. Frustrated by the HR tools he had to use back then, he decided to create a performance management solution that people would actually enjoy using.
FINALIST #6 = TalentBin
TalentBin is a talent search engine that helps recruiters and hiring managers find the best talent the web has to offer! TalentBin crawls the social web, scooping up all the implicit professional activity candidates engage in on places like Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus, the US Patent Database, professional journal publications, and more. We then take that activity, interpret it, to make sense of it (“Wow, this guy can’t stop tweeting about petroleum drilling!” or ”This person is listed as an inventor on 5 patents about serotonin reuptake inhibitors!”), before compositing all that activity into a unified professional profile. The result is a searchable candidate database of professional profiles who were previously *unfindable* on traditional candidates search engines.
Peter Kazanjy is Co-Founder of TalentBin the talent search engine that turbo-charges talent discovery across the web. TalentBin was created on the assumption that the “professional exhaust” left behind by people while posting on career-oriented online/social communities tells more about them than what they choose to post to a career profile. Before starting TalentBin, Kazanjy was the Director of Product Marketing at Sharethrough and also held a variety of marketing and product marketing roles at VMware, including leading product marketing for VMware Fusion and VMware Workstation, VMware’s consumer / pro-sumer products. Pete lives in San Francisco, where he spends way too much time thinking about professional reputation and identity.
