Technology vendors play nicely requests Bill Boorman
Bill Boorman wants the vendors to integrate easily, cheaply, quickly for the benefit of the customer and the candidate.
“Just one click to join the talent network”.
Not join the community; the network is one-way whereas a community is a two-way process. Most companies actually just need a network as they just want to send out info plus the candidate doesn’t want to hear from you every day anyway!
As recruiters, Bill wants his clients to be able to match content to people; take a targeted approach to content and deliver the exact right content to the right people (I call that context Bill). Once you are in the process you are in the process forever; unless you choose to leave. However, he also doesn’t want to store data, he only wants to search real time data to be able to find the right people.
As far as candidate go, the more information you make available the better the information the recruiter can give you; although they may only look at a profile for 20 seconds to determine:
- Ask you to apply.
- Tell you “not right now but maybe one day”.
- We’ll never hire you!
According to Bill, there is NOT a talent shortage only an access to talent shortage hence his desire to make search easier which is 4 key steps:
- Internal workforce.
- Boomerang hires (people who have left but who you would like back).
- People in your talent network.
- External channels e.g. LinkedIn.
So to make search easier across all of the channels, Bill wants to be able to use a number of different systems that all integrate seamlessly. He works with some pretty big brands so can already give first hand experience of the challenges he mentioned. So either the big vendors find a way to be more open or the smaller vendors club together to give the customers what they want.
